This is a masterwork of style and functionality - an excellent piece of furniture to have for tight spaces and serves as a wonderful accent piece! This multi-purpose gem serves as s side table or desk; open to a full dining or card table that comfortably seats 4; and then lowers as a coffee table.

Material: laminate tops; wooden base, metal supports and brackets for raising and lowering the table.
Highlight: Multi-purpose 3-in-1 functionality
Condition: Good. Very solid piece of furniture (at least 100 lbs). Well crafted - built to last. Wear on the edges and the bases of the wooden legs, and scuff marks on the scalloped laminate apron around the tabletop.

The table's underside is where the black metal support brackets and a central threaded rod assembly for raising and lowering the table are attached. Instructions for operation are adhered underneath as well. 

About Castro Convertible:

Sicilian-born inventor Bernard Castro, was born in 1904. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1919, and was later credited with the creation of the convertible couch - a popular piece of furniture in the modern era. He and his wife, Theresa Castro, founded Castro Decorators  in 1931 in New York City; there showroom evolved into a leading producer of convertible sofas and ottomans -the ottoman being their most popular item. 

"He held patents for convertible mechanisms and repositioned the sofa bed as a living room furniture piece, blending aesthetics with function," and in 1963 was awarded the Horatio Alger Award for his entrepreneurial spirit.
