No Shoes No Shirt No Service - Dr Pepper
vintage late 70s headshop fashion poster
dimensions: 19 5/8" x 27 1/2"
date: 1976
condition: Good overall condition. creases along the edges and diagonally at the upper left corner through the man's face and back of the woman's head, and two soft fold lines across the center and bottom of the image.
The poster os satirical response to private business policies that originated in the 1960s and 70s to exclude hippies, and counterculture individuals. Primarily used to restrict entry based on appearance or lifestyle choices rather than actual health risks. And while not a law, businesses have the right to establish dress codes as long as they do not violate civil rights laws.
Woman sitting at the counter at a diner wearing only a shirt and thick high-heeled shoes to get service - she fulfills the sign's minimal request for customer service. A male patron sitting next to her stares at her exposed bottom as she casually enjoys her coffee.
