While her mother was named regent, Wilhelmina Helena Pauline Maria was declared Queen of the Netherlands at the age of 10 in 1890 after the death of her father, King William III, until she abdicated her throne in 1948 due to poor health.

Condition: Fair; the margins were trimmed away all around. The signature on the left side of the top edge is faded - barely perceptible. Spots of color loss at the edges. The printing itself is beautiful with strong, deep yellow tones, and metallic gold accents on the trim of the collar and head covering.

Wilhelmina garnered great respect and admiration from her nation and around the world, for her steadfast resistance during WW2 while she was in exile during the German invasion of the Netherlands.

At age 18, when she was entitled to exercise her royal authority. "She was well aware what was expected by the elected representatives, but was a strong-willed, forceful woman who spoke and acted her mind. She "hated" politicians and instead stated a love for the people."
