dimensions: 8 7/8” x 11 3/8”
date: 1905
condition: taken from publication - paper loss all around- the paper is very brittle. LOOSE PIECES IN SLEEVE may fill most, but not all area of paper loss. Natural toning along the edges, more noticeable on the back, consistent with age. Otherwise excellent color.
art: Reinhold Max Eichler (1872-1947)
Original and period. Beautiful printing. Hard to find cover. This image depicts a cherub bound in captivity. Broken arrows. Lots of symbolism. Someone else is very unhappy with this Cupid.
"Wochenschrift für Kunst und Leben" (Weekly for Art and Life) is a title, not a specific publication. It refers to a type of periodical that focuses on both artistic expression and aspects of daily life. Several publications have used variations of this title or similar themes. One notable example is "Jugend," a Munich-based illustrated weekly founded by Georg Hirth. It ran from 1896 to 1940.
