art restoration vintage poster art gallery: Original 1918 Crédit Lyonnais WW1 Masterwork
If you collect museum-worthy propaganda or curate an art restoration vintage poster art gallery, this authentic 1918 Crédit Lyonnais 4e Emprunt National lithograph by Jules Abel Faivre is a standout. Printed by Devambez, Paris, it captures a powerful scene: a heroic nude figure raising a sword against the German eagle clutching the French tricolor—an emblematic call to subscribe to the war loan.
This large-format original measures 47 1/8" x 31 1/2". The sheet presents in fair to good, unrestored condition with tape mends on the verso for larger margin tears, paper loss at the upper-right margin and bottom edge, a poorly matched color touch over tape impressions along the right margin, plus minor creases and light pigment loss. It remains an evocative, display-worthy piece—ideal for archival framing now or as a thoughtful candidate for professional conservation.
