condition: Linen backed for preservation; the overall condition is fair to good; the tear at the upper right corner was mended during the linen backing process but is still visible; slight edge wear and minor discoloration along the edges is visible along with a spot of pigment loss to a crease and to the tear at the upper right side on the gentleman's coat.

This is a fantastic poster; elegant and sophisticated. The mode of the day stems from a tradition started in the 1880s by John J. Mitchell Company of New York. This company set the standard for American tailoring and cutting; the pattern-drafting systems carried well into the mid twentieth century.
