About AGALEV:
"The name "Agalev" meant Anders GAan LEVand, although in the early 80s the party had to assign to the acronym Agalev according to the rules of registration of party names a meaning where all letters stand for a separate word; that became Anders Gto Arbeiden, Leven En Vrows: improvised and not entirely serious, but formally correct."
"one of the first green parties in Europe, the political party Agalev was founded in 1979 on the basis of the ideas of the movement Anders Gaan Leven of the Jesuit Luc Versteylen, who himself never became a member of the party. Agalev used as basic principles: ecological, peaceful and basic democratic. In addition to the party, a movement 'Going to Live Differently' remained active with the key concepts: silence, sobriety and togetherness."
"In the second half of the 80s, Agalev continues to build on its program and manages to profile itself during the massive demonstrations against nuclear weapons. On the environmental front, the party sets the tone with its opposition to illegal dumping on the Hooge Maey and to the construction of the Zeebrugge LNG terminal. According to the Greens, the economic and ecological risks are too high. Furthermore, Agalev is always fully in favour of enhanced European cooperation and is already setting a good example with the first European congress of the Greens.
