The museum:
"The Sprengel Museum Hannover is a museum dedicated to international art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Its origins lie in the generous donation of Margrit and Bernhard Sprengel, which remains the core of its collection to this day: in 1969, the couple bequeathed their collection of modern art to the city of Hanover. This donation provided the impetus for the construction of the museum, the first phase of which opened in June 1979. The couple generously supported the museum's construction. The city of Hanover and the state of Lower Saxony agreed to jointly finance the construction and ongoing operation of the museum, which opened in 1979." - https://www.sprengel-museum.de/
