PUCK The Christmas Number
antique lithographic cover for a New York publication
dimensions: 10" x 13 5/8"
date: December 12, 1900
condition: Fair to good overall condition; visible tape stain around a tear at the bottom margin; strips of tape on the back. Minor paper loss and light water stain at the right side of the bottom edge. The cover was unevenly trimmed from the original publication. Top left corner is folded onto itself; bottom right corner has a tear. Excellent, bright coloration. Beautifully illustrated with a bold full page image.
An elegantly dressed woman in a fashionable red coat, with a natural-colored belt cinched at the waist, holds back an Evergreen as the golden curly- headed cherub, wearing a top hat and tails, swings away at the tree with his axe on a snowy day.
