The original photograph was taken by legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz in 1991 of REBECCA DENISON, Women with AIDS Activist HIV WORLD - the project aimed to raise awareness about women living with HIV/AIDS. The powerful image was included in an exhibition titled WOMEN at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, October 1999 - February 2000 - a collection of portraiture honoring womanhood throughout the United States.
This vintage exhibition poster shows Denison in profile, from the waist up, with words and phrases written on her signifying what it takes to get through each day as an HIV Long-term Survivor. These are messages of hope and "You are not alone!"
