All subtlety aside, this is a very strong image of a Christ-like figure wearing a gas mask and is pinned to a makeshift cross comprised of a steel beam connected to a chimney and smoke stack above piles of garbage. The poster was printed in 1970; as we are all too aware, this is still a common issue today; we DO know what we're doing to our environment - - don't we?
