Based on the 2021 book by Ben Mezrich, The Antisocial Network, the film Dumb Money premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, Sept. 2023.

Chronicles the ascension of the main character Keith Gill, played by Paul Dano, from middle-class financial analyst to financial guru after sinking his life savings in GameStop’s stock after seeing its price starting to fall. He live-streams his quest on his YouTube channel using the name Roaring Kitty.

Despite criticism from his brother and others, his belief in his decision to go all in on this stock inspires others to invest in the stock as well creating a huge increase in the stock price while causing investment CEOs  who had been short selling the stock on the notion that the company would close to lose hundreds of millions of dollars  in the process
