Rare and vintage caricature poster of Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones in jail
dimensions: 24 1/8" x 36"
date: c.1967
condition: Good. Tape behind the tear at the top of the poster. Rip at the lower right side; creases, small tears, and wear along the edges; creases on the image; spot of yellowish discoloration at the upper right side; and a series of soft rolling impressions across the image are visible. The minor damage does mot detract from this unusual illustration, a cross-hatch drawing of Mick Jagger behind bars, wearing a black and white striped prison suit.
Head shop poster depicting a caricature of Mick Jagger in jail with a bottle and four pills that he'd been busted for just outside of the jail cell.
"In 1967, Jagger and Richards were arrested on drug charges and were given unusually harsh sentences: Jagger was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for possession of four over-the-counter pep pills he had purchased in Italy and Richards was sentenced to one year in prison for allowing cannabis to be smoked on his property. The traditionally conservative editor of The Times, William Rees-Mogg, wrote an article critical of the sentences; and on appeal Richards' sentence was overturned and Jagger's was amended to a conditional discharge (although he ended up spending one night inside London's Brixton Prison)."
