Aviator / La Poderosa (blue)

An original stenciled painting that features my pet bird as a wildly independent force to be reckoned with. I never closed her cage, so she had free range of the Queens apartment. As much as it saddened me though, after four years, I could feel it was time to let her go, and true to this painting, she flew away and never looked back.

This is the art work that was scanned to produce the poster print that is also available  The direct scan allowed the colors of the print to be faithful to the original.

"In honor of all the free birds within us." The second part of the title, La Poderosa, was inspired by a blue Indian Ring-Neck Parakeet that I had as a pet. Poderosa, in Spanish, means strong, powerful - this little bird was that. Quite a formidable spirit!
